Sugar! (SOD) Historically I believe, I remember seeing that sugar was rare, expensive and used only as a sweetener, not actually significant ingredients in recipes/products/goods etc. then after WWII it became plentiful +cheap, and thus we all became the kids in the Willy Wonka factory.Sugar causes inflammation, and can possibly dampen the immune system (J.Hall 2016) and therefore very likely has many associative links to any inflammatory disease. Not to mention anything of the psychology of addiction related to sugars effects on dopamine centers of the brain, rat studies comparing it superior/= to cocain in addiction, advertising to kids in the USA, that’s no longer tolerated in other parts of the world for decades now, then the big smear/ pay for play scandal of the fats and sugar studies of the 70’s/80s in which corporate interest/Big sugar’s own research study results (at Purdue? ) pointed to the cascade of cardiovascular events from said sugar consumption but much like big tobacco, they paid /leaned of the study researchers to indicate it was Fats, saturated fats in the diet which were the real culprits of heart disease then. Thus ushering in the reign burgeoning era of Transfats, margarines and so many other gawd aweful synthetic foods but not really foods but akin to edible plastics, pervasively into every single nook and cranny of our diet scapes. Not because it was good, tasted better, healthier or medicinal, but rather was cheap, profitable, spoiled much, much less often (years instead of weeks) and had government backing, grants, handouts, tariffs on imports of natural millennias old original unadulterated competing foods. Thank you Ulysses Butts / Nickson administration- for exploding big agra into dominance for a near century.
